Government is introducing a $10k cash limit.

If the Government have their way, from 1 January 2020, it will be a criminal offence to make or accept cash payments of $10,000 or more. Penalties will include up to 2 years imprisonment and a $25,000 fine.

The cash payment limit will apply to the total price, irrespective if payment is split.

Payments not subject to limit will be cash-in-transit providers, payments of a personal or private manner, certain payments made or accepted by a public official or payments reported under anti-money laundering / counter-terrorism legislation.
